The next stage of Tourism Australia’s campaign, There’s nothing like Australia is calling on Eastern Suburbs residents to stand proud and share what they love about their home town.

To date, over 50,000 photos of Aussie destinations have been uploaded to www.nothinglikeaustralia.com.au including 72 photos of Bondi. However apart from these shots of the famous beach, the rest of the region is highly underrepresented with only three of Tamarama and five of Bronte taking pride of place on the map.

Although we all love Bondi beach, there are an abundance of other experiences for both locals and travellers to enjoy, such as parks, cafes, bars and shops dotted throughout the region.

By sharing these experiences and recommendations, residents will not only assist fellow travellers visiting the area, but will also go into the running to win a luxury Aussie holiday and nominate their family and friends to share it with as part of their “Aussie Holiday Dream Team”.

The new digitally led interactive campaign reflects the growth of social and digital media on the way Australians research and book travel.

“There has been a real shift in recent years in how we reach consumers through digital and social media channels to promote Australia’s amazing holiday experiences,” Mr McEvoy said.

“In Australia alone 46 per cent of consumers visit travel sites on a monthly basis which is why we are embarking on such a big push online – through our campaign website to get Australians to advocate what is great about holidaying in their country.”

Our own home grown Bondi Rescue life guard, Harries is calling on Eastern suburbs residents to put their home town on the map!

“We all know how great this region is and now we have the chance to share this with our fellow Aussies. I love Bondi and I’m lucky enough to soak up the sun and surf every day, however there’s so much more to see and do around the East. Let’s add those hot spots to the Tourism Australia map that only locals would know!” said Harries.
