Grant Brooks has lived in Maroubra for 17 years. Before moving to the Bra he lived in Bondi, where he spent 15 years growing up. He describes himself as a photographer, father and fixer. Grant shares his local favourites with The Beast…

Favourite Beach: Maroubra Beach for surf and solitude without the crowds.

Eatery: Elias Gourmet Pizza on McKeon Street is on my speed dial.

Watering Hole: I don’t drink coffee or alcohol but if I wanted to hang out somewhere I would meet you at Molly’s. It has the best vibe in the Eastern Suburbs by far.

Sporting Team: Parramatta Eels and any team with underdog status, which makes sense.

Music: Slow Club, The Tallest Man On Earth, The Heavy, Aussie hip-hop, punk, etc.

Person: Charlie Day or Peter Griffin. They make me laugh.

Weekend Activity: Snapping away looking for that elusive shot, kicking the footy with the kids, walking the dogs, inventing something or brainstorming ideas.

Quote: “To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, to gain all while you give, to roam the roads of lands remote, to travel is to live.” – H. C. Andersen

Favourite Thing About Your Work: I get to be outside and meet new people and I enjoy figuring out new photography techniques and putting those skills to good use.

Final Word: Laugh every day, lend a helping hand, try new things and sit down every now and then and just watch the world. And most of all, tell the people you care about that you love them.
