Laurie Ingleton has lived in Waverley for 48 years. She was born in Sri Lanka and came here when she was two years old. Laurie is the office manager at BT Ryan Bus and Truck Smash Repairs at Matraville, which is her husband Brett Ryan’s company. Laurie shares her local favourites with The Beast…

Favourite Beach: Bondi to Maroubra – they are all beautiful and I have spent many years at all of them!

Eatery: La Locanda in Waverley has great Italian and Danny’s La Bussola in Darlinghurst serves up great pizzas.

Watering Hole: Our bar at home, or the Clovelly Hotel is only a short stroll away to meet many locals!

Sporting Team: I have to support the Roosters or my husband would kill me.

Music: Stevie Wonder is my hero, or any black female singer.

Weekend Activity: My ideal weekend involves a walk or run with our dog, Zara, followed by a swim at Clovelly, then breakfast at Green Mango on Clovelly Road, another swim and then out to dinner locally or a barbecue at home with some chilled wine and friends.

Quote: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto to you.”

Favourite Thing About Your Work: The vehicles that we repair are our clients’ livelihood and seeing the relief on people’s faces when they pick up their repaired vehicle is fabulous. And working with my husband of course!

Final Word: This year I am training for the half marathon in September with Can Too. Can Too provides coaching for endurance events in exchange for our individual commitment to raise money for Cure Cancer. If you would like to sponsor me, please go to www.cantoo.org.au and type in my name. All money goes directly to Cure Cancer.
