Local carpenter Sam Rutherford has lived in Bondi for half a year after growing up at the beach in Maroubra. Sam has started his own business, Rutherford Construction, specialising mainly in domestic work after serving his apprenticeship with television celebrity builder Scott Cam. “I build beautiful things, mainly with timber, that make my clients happy,” Sam told The Beast. For any construction work you can call Sam on 0422 490 397. Sam shares his local faves with The Beast…

Favourite Beach: Tamarama for sure. I just love a body surf out on the reef.

Eatery: Anything from ‘G’s’, which is my mum’s kitchen at my parents’ place.

Watering Hole: The Cloey Hotel, especially in summer when the renovations are completed. Otherwise the Golden
Sheaf at Double Bay is a good spot.

Sporting Team: The Galloping Greens – up the mighty Wicks!

Music: Anything really, and I don’t mind the old classics too. Some of the stuff on my iPod still pleasantly surprises me from time to time.

Person: All of my family. I’m blessed to have such love and support.

Weekend Activity: During summer it’s the beach, in winter it’s playing rugby.

Quote: “It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice.”

Favourite Thing About Your Work: I like helping people take an idea and turn it into something special for them to enjoy.

Final Word: Life’s good, enjoy every minute of it.
