Roosters skipper Anthony ‘Mini’ Minichiello was a king hit with 20 kids from the St Charles Under 7s black and red rugby league sides when he hosted a coaching clinic at Burrows Park last Saturday.

As part of the MINIFIT coaching initiative, which encourages health and fitness among young children, Mini and health and fitness expert Brett Martin put the kids through their paces on a magic winter’s day.

The kids were told the most important part of any side was teamwork and after a solid warm-up session the St Charles boys put their skills to the test with a series of exercises which included cut-out passes and drawing in the opposition before offloading the ball.

Mini shrugged off the leg injury which has seen him sidelined since the Roosters’ win over Penrith earlier this month.

“Yeah the leg is coming along fine,” he said. “I will miss the game against the Sharks but should be ready for the Titans next Sunday.”

The Titans clash will be the Roosters’ last home game before the season-ending blockbuster against the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium on Friday September 6.

And with the Roosters riding high on the top of the table, the club’s future looks to be in safe hands if the skills shown by the youngsters from St Charles is anything to go by.
