Schweppes Sydney Cup Day – Thoroughly Playful

By Dan Hutton on April 20, 2011 in Sport

Dust off your fascinators and suits, put that Easter egg back in the fridge and get down to Royal Randwick for a great day of racing fun at Schweppes Sydney Cup Day, this Saturday, April 23. With plenty of time to recover thanks to the stars colliding a delivering public holiday on top of public holiday, there is absolutely no excuse not to get involved!

This is the sixth and final week of the Sydney Carnival, with some of the best thoroughbreds in the country on show in a huge racing line-up with prize-money of over $2.3 million. Off the track a resident DJ from Cargo Lounge and a covers band will be entertaining the crowd throughout the day.

The kids haven’t been forgotten either – there’s a special last minute ‘Family Ticket Offer’ with 2-for-1 admission for adults with accompanying children, free entry for under 18s, and shed-loads of free entertainment including a petting zoo, pony rides, an Easter egg hunt, an NRL skills clinic, face-painting and heaps of cool rides. The only tears on the day will be when they have to leave!

Pre-purchase four or more tickets on ticketek.com.au by midday, Wednesday, April 20, and you will go in the draw to win a Royal Arrival where four lucky punters will enjoy a champagne brunch at Gazebo before being driven out to the airport, jumping in a helicopter, flying around Sydney Harbour and landing in the middle of the racecourse – total rockstar style! Better still, a $200 bar tab will also be given to the winner to spend on-course.

This race day is going to be seriously eggcellent (yep, cheap Easter gag!), so get your family and friends together and trot on over to the track for something just a little bit different this Easter.

If you can’t make it on Saturday, there are also ANZAC Day Races on Monday, April 25 and entry is free for Defence Force personnel – either wear your uniform or bring your ID card.
