Twenty Years of Family Fun at Coogee Beach

By Marcus Braid on December 3, 2014 in News

Coogee Family Fun Day is about to celebrate 20 years of bringing family fun and entertainment to Coogee Beach.

The Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, December 6 from 9am to 6pm at its traditional home at Goldstein Reserve, but this year all entertainment will be located in the park.

“The main difference this year will be that the entertainment stage will actually be on the parkland with all the other entertainment,” Coogee Chamber of Commerce treasurer Maurice Mountain said.

“It used to be down on the sand on the beach. This year we’ve changed that; we think it will be better for everybody concerned.”

The event has raised over $120,000 for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation at Randwick over its 20-year history, and fundraising will again take place this year.

“This is the 20th year the event has been run and it has been highly successful every year,” Mr Mountain said. “It provides free entertainment for younger families. There’s entertainment for all ages, but it’s specifically targeted at two to eight-year olds.

“We’ve got about 60 market stalls booked in, including food, clothing, crafts and other handy wares. This is a fairly unique event and because of its success over the years, it has gathered more and more momentum.”

A range of exciting performers will perform on the big stage, including TV’s new preschool sensation ‘Lah-Lah and the Big Live Band’ and the ‘Outback Aussie Show’ with Jess and Dan.
