Maroubra resident Amy Robson is a skilled contemporary jewellery designer and is also a proud member of ‘The Seagals’. Amy shares her local favourites with The Beast…

How long have you lived here?
It’s coming up to five years. Time has flown; I must be having fun!

What’s your favourite beach?
Maroubra. There are waves nearly every day, my close buddies live here and nearby, there’s a great local spirit and you can always get a car park.

What’s your favourite eatery?
Breakfast is my favourite meal to go out for. I can’t go past the tasty morning menu at North End Cafe, and then I swing by Moye’s to get a freshly squeezed juice (and one of those big laughter-filled smiles). It’s the best start to the day.

Where do you like to have a drink?
I’m really not much of a drinker; I’m a bit of a lightweight. It doesn’t stop me having a great time though.

Do you have a favourite sporting team?
I like to watch and follow surfing and other extreme sports. I’m a big fan of people like Mark Mathews and Sally Fitzgibbons.

What music are you into at the moment?
I listen to a lot of tunes ranging from Rise Against to City and Colour to Fleetwood Mac. I will sing and dance to pretty much anything, anywhere.

Who is your favourite person?
Hands down it’s my mum, Annette. She is easily the most admirable and inspirational person I know. If I turn out even half the woman she is, I will be over the moon.

What do you get up to on the weekends?
Surfing is always first on the agenda. My little surf crew, ‘The Seagals’, usually heads over to the Northern Beaches to surf with our friends there, or we head down the coast for an adventure. Then it’s back to the jewellery bench to work on one-off commission pieces, orders, exhibition pieces and to play around with new designs. I’m currently working on a new range of jewellery for surfers – stay tuned.

What do you do for work?
I’m a contemporary jewellery designer (amyrobsonjewellery.com) and I manage Gaffa Gallery.

What’s your favourite thing about work?
Designing jewellery means I get to be creative and make something every day. There’s nothing better than making something beautiful that people wear, love and treasure. I also get to go to the beach and surf every morning!

Do you have a favourite quote?
I recently heard this; it’s spot on: “Change nothing, nothing changes”.

Any other words of wisdom for readers of The Beast?
