Local Favourites… Fiona From Bondi
Fiona the mumprenuer, author and creator of Kid-estorybooks, shares her local favourites with The Beast…Have you always lived locally?
I’m originally from the United Kingdom, but I moved to Australia with my husband, two kids and two dogs back in 2008.
How long have you lived here?
We arrived to a house in Coogee, which fell through, but we ended up being very lucky to get a place in Bondi, where we’ve lived for the last four years.
What’s your favourite beach?
My daughter goes to Bondi Beach Public School and Bondi Beach is the kids’ front yard and also where we made and now meet our friends every week, so it’s very special to me.
What’s your favourite eatery?
I’m quite partial to ‘one bite beef’ and the rest of the menu at Mamasan. I love the food and the cosy, friendly atmosphere there.
Where do you like to have a drink?
Most recently I love The Bucket List – it’s so Bondi. It has the best location, great staff, great buckets of food and it’s also somewhere you can go as a family as it’s really child-friendly too.
Do you have a favourite sporting team?
The family drags me along to the Roosters games, so I guess I’d have to say that!
What music are you into at the moment?
Anything with the right beat that I can blast through the iPod to help me run all the way to Bronte and back!
Who is your favourite person?
I’m surrounded by my favourite people, but I’m fast approaching my ten-year wedding anniversary so it would have to be my husband and best friend Damon (ahh).
What do you get up to on the weekends?
Well it’s pretty busy… dog walks and cycling, netball and soccer, barbecues and lunches, beach time and playgrounds, dinner with friends and just hanging out with the neighbours.
Do you have a favourite quote?
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
What do you do for work?
My real job is Content Author for Vodafone’s Global website, but I recently created Kid-estorybooks and launched two children’s ebook apps on iTunes, so that’s my fun, creative work.
What’s your favourite thing about work?
I love working on my apps; it’s creative and a challenging contrast to my real job! As a mum, it’s really nice to create a product that my kids and their friends can use, and watch them learn and have fun at the same time.
