Centennial Parklands hosts a ‘Kup Murri’
Come along to Centennial Parklands on Friday 13 July for a traditional ‘Kup Murri’ in celebration of NAIDOC Week.
A ‘Kup Murri’ is the traditional Torres Strait Islander ceremonial practice of cooking underground using natural resources. Uncle Phil Ahwang, a respected Elder from the Torres Strait Islands community, will share his skills and knowledge of how to prepare and produce a ‘Kup Murri’.
The event is open to the community to attend and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Visit www.centennialparklands.com.au for more info.
