Local Chick… Sharon Lavin From Bellevue Hill
Bellevue Hill resident Sharon Lavin shares her local favourites with The Beast…How long have you lived here?
I’m originally from Ireland and moved to Australia 14 years ago. I spent 6 years in London before moving here so I was definitely in need of some sun. I’ve always lived in the Eastern Suburbs and I absolutely love it!
What’s your favourite beach?
Bondi for a lazy afternoon and I love Redleaf and snorkelling at Clovelly.
What’s your favourite eatery?
I enjoy all types of food and trying new places but I do have favourites. Pasta Panty in Bellevue Hill never disappoints for coffee and Blue Orange in Bondi for dinner is a great place to watch the world go by. Also, Icebergs for the amazing view, Bondi Trattoria for the great menu and Sushi Train in Bondi Junction.
Where do you like to have a drink?
My days of having late nights are nearly gone as I never achieve much the next day. I love going to a friend’s house for a few wines and I would recommend Li’l Darlin in Surry Hills for cocktails and tapas.
Do you have a favourite sporting team?
I’m not a big sports fan but, living in the area, I would have to say the Roosters. My partner is an English Liverpudlian so it’s compulsory in my house to support The Reds (Liverpool).
What music are you into at the moment?
I’m a sucker for the old stuff and my friends will be embarrassed but here goes: Elvis Presley, Abba, Simon & Garfunkel, Queen, David Bowie and Rod Stewart.
What do you get up to on the weekends?
You will find me in the gym first thing in the morning. Living in such a beautiful city I try to make the most of the coastal walks, outdoor markets and cafes.
What do you do for work?
I work in the finance section of a property development company but I also have a volunteering role as a committee
member for the Irish Australian Welfare Bureau (IAWB), who provide welfare for the needy in the Irish community and are based in Bondi.
What’s your favourite thing about work?
I have amazing colleagues and it’s wonderful to see a project from start to finish. I love volunteering with the IAWB; I get the op- portunity to help make a difference to the lives of people who need a helping hand.
Who is your favourite person?
I have some amazing friends and I love spending time with my wonderful sister Orla and my fantastic partner Keith.
Do you have a favourite quote?
“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.”
