Bondi resident Rose Ashton is an up-and-coming artist and model who has recently returned from Mexico, where she was filming an ad for Corona. Rose shares her local favourites with The Beast…

How long have you lived here for?
I’m coming up to my 12-year anniversary. My longest and favourite relationship is the one I have with Bondi.

What’s your favourite beach?
North Bondi. Swimming from Flat Rock around to the boat ramp is one of my favourite things to do in summer.

What’s your favourite eatery?
Mamasan is hands down Bondi’s best venue to date. It’s not just the food that is incredible, but the vibe, atmosphere and the staff that make it the most fun place to dine.

Where do you like to have a drink?
Bad Mama, which is right next door.

Do you have a favourite sporting team?
I consider myself an overenthusiast, so if I’m at a sporting match I’ll go for the team with the best vibe on the day. Recently I was in Salt Lake City and we went to a Utah Jazz versus LA Clippers match. The Jazz were the home team, so I naturally cheered for them, bought a t-shirt and decided they were my favourites.

What music are you into at the moment?
The theme song from Game of Thrones… every song from Game of Thrones.

Who is your favourite person?
All humans are my favourite, but my most precious are my brother, my sister and my magical niece.

What do you get up to on the weekends?
I paint, draw, swim, work, laugh, eat, drink, sleep less than I should and smile a hell of a lot!

What do you do for work?
I’m an artist and a model. I also work at my dear friend’s restaurant as the floor supervisor and cheerleader when I am not travelling for art and modelling, and I have begun writing recently. My first article was published on somethingyousaid.com – it highlights my experience in Salt Lake City and my huge fascination with the Mormon faith.

What’s your favourite thing about work?
Making people happy – hands down.

Do you have a favourite quote?
‘Happiness lies in your own hand’ – it’s from Madonna, circa her Bedtime Stories era. I may or may not have been a member of the Madonna fan club from about the age of nine.

Any other words of wisdom for readers of The Beast?
Happiness is better shared.
