Julie Doye’s ‘Interesting Minds’ Project

By Relmi Damiano on February 28, 2011 in Arts

This year’s featured artist at the inaugural Brain Art Exhibition is Julie Doye, a prolific painter, illustrator, installation and performance artist. Her highly colourful and heavily symbolic works draw together a diverse range of influences to portray an often humorous reflection of modern life.

During the exhibition Julie will be painting eight portraits of “Interesting Minds” from Australia live, some of which will include former Wallabies Captain and founder of the Mettle Group John Eales; famous rock photographer Tony Mott; Bondi Rescue star Bruce Hopkins (Hoppo); the first female editor for the Sydney Morning Herald in 180 years Amanda Wilson; and psychiatrist and former foreign affairs television journalist for SBS Dr. Tanveer Ahmed.

The artworks will be signed by these personalities and auctioned at the Exhibition’s Fundraising Awards Night. The money raised by this auction will contribute to The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse at RPA as well as assisting this young artist in her career.

Support the Brain Art Exhibition and the works displayed of young and emerging talent. Check out the Launch Night on March 3rd from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm and enjoy a glass of wine while making up your mind in choosing and voting for your favourite piece of art.

This exhibition is aimed at young individuals who want to demonstrate their artistic talent, gain recognition and network with people from different disciplines. The intent of this endeavor is to promote emerging talent and enhance brain awareness in the community. Winners of the 2011 Brain Art Awards will be announced at the Fundraising Awards Night.
