National awareness day for Cystic Fibrosis (CF)
CF is the most common life threatening recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children & young adults today.
•Approx 3,000 people living with CF in Australia. CF seriously affects breathing & digestion.
•People with CF usually need 2 hrs intensive chest physio (to help break up the mucus in their lungs so they can breathe) & up to 40 enzyme tablets (to help their digestion) every day just to survive.
•Avge life expectancy is mid 30’s, some children won’t reach adulthood.
•Approx 1 in every 2,500 babies born with CF
•No Cure Yet
