A Queer Aesthetic By Guy James Whitworth
Although the ABC have labelled him ‘promising’ and ‘collectible’ Guy James Whitworth, the poster-boy for Sydney’s Queer arts scene is certainly not resting on his reputation for his new exhibition ‘A Queer Aesthetic.’
The artist smiles knowingly, ‘Oh I know everyone is expecting just big sexy nudes, and although there are definitely a few, this is actually very much a political statement for me. To me, identifying as a queer artist is something that goes way beyond just sexuality, hence the title, it’s about a way of life, a way of living, of really looking and considering whats around me’.
