Australian Gothic
Taking Arthur Boyd’s epic tapestry, Untitled (Shoalhaven Landscape) as its departure point ‘Australian Gothic’ is an immersive installation that employs the macabre theatrics of national politics. This new work by Dominic Kirkwood will recreate Boyd’s work in the form of a eucalypt forest, which will be filled by the interjections, shouts and murmurs from question time in Canberra. In this piece the Gothic is not found out in the desolate landscape but in the isolation from within Australia’s inner political psyche.
