Awaken the Dragon Boats

Here’s your chance to view close up, the Blessing and Dotting of the Eyes Ceremony for Easts Dragons new dragon boats. Presided over by a Taoist Monk, the ceremony involves dotting the eyes of the dragon to give it life, and bring good fortune to those who race in it. Chanting takes place to ward off evil spirits, whilst special foods are offered to the dragon to make him happy. Eastern Suburbs Dragon Boat Club invites you to come watch this special event on Saturday October 26, at 11.00am. Special guest is Hon. Gabrielle Upton, Member for Vaucluse, Minister for Sport and Recreation.
