Brain Art Exhibition Open Day

The Brain Art Exhibition’s Open Day falls on the same day as the colourful Sydney Mardi Gras. Our gallery is located just off Oxford Street, so come by before the parade and check out the works of the Brain Art Writing Competition finalists and watch our featured artist Julie Doye painting live!
Julie is a prolific painter, illustrator, installation and performance artist. Her highly colourful and heavily symbolic works draw together a diverse range of influences to portray an often humorous reflection of modern life. During the exhibition Julie will be painting live 8 portraits of ‘Interesting Minds’ from Australia, some of which include former Wallabies captain and founder of the Mettle Group John Eales, famous rock photographer Tony Mott, Bondi Rescue Star Bruce Hopkins (Hoppo), the first woman editor for the Sydney Morning Herald in 180 years Amanda Wilson, and psychiatrist and former foreign affairs television journalist Dr. Tanveer Ahmed.
The artworks will be signed by these personalities and auctioned at the Fundraising Awards Night on Friday 11th of March. The money raised by this auction will contribute to the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse at RPA as well as assisting this young artist in her career.
