Conversations With Karen
Conversations With Karen (art exhibition) is an exploration of shared humanity and chronicles the plight of Karen refugees from Burma.
The Karen are one of the largest ethnic groups who face persecution from Burma’s military junta.
Throughout the last few years the artist has lived and worked on the Thai-Burma border refugee camp region and more recently in Australia where she researches the experiences of Karen refugee women now living in Sydney.
This exhibition communicates their stories, rarely told but deserving of a wider audience.
Porch & Parlour Café in North Bondi are kindly hosting this exhibition in honour of World Refugee Day (June 20) and Australia’s Refugee Week (June 19 to 25, 2011).
The exhibition itself runs from June 20 to July 17.
