DROP IN ACTIVITY: SOAPSTONE CARVING

Ages: Recommended 7+

Get inspired, by the traditional and powerfully simple carvings of Ice Age animals made by Palaeolithic man from the exhibition, ‘Mammoths: Giants of the Ice Age’, and carve your own soapstone mammoth, dire wolf or cave bear using sandpaper and water. Adults will also enjoy this activity!

Note: This activity can take about an hour. Participants are given box kit with all equipment needed, so can be completed at home if unable to finish at the museum.

Accompanying adults are required to supervise and assist children in this space.
