Secrets & Lies
The Benevolent Society’s Post Adoption Resource Centre is hosting a film evening around the theme of adoption and reunion.
Anyone affected by adoption is invited to join PARC counsellors in the screening of the movie ‘Secrets & Lies’, by Mike Leigh.
The protagonist is Hortense, a middle class black English woman who, after the death of her adoptive mother, goes in search of her birth mother, Cynthia, who turns out to be a working class white woman. Family secrets and lies unravel in an emotional sweep.
After the movie there will be a light dinner and discussion over the many facets of the adoption experience.
