TamaClovelly Cliffside Odessey

The TamaCloey ocean swim in Sydney’s eastern suburbs is a highlight on the NSW ocean swimming calendar. Now in its fourth year, the 2.5km course begins at Tamarama Beach at 10am, with local celebrity HG Nelson calling the official start to the race. Swimmers will pass Bronte Beach and Waverley Cemetery before rounding the spectacular Clovelly cliffs and Shark Point, with the finish line at Clovelly Beach.

New to the event this year are two exciting new events, OceanFit Clovelly 600 for first time ocean swimmers and a special event for keen ocean kids, OceanKids Clovelly, which comprises of a 200m event for 8-10 year olds and a 400m event for 11-12 year olds, commencing at 8am inside the calm waters of Clovelly Beach.

Race Director, Joel Turner said, “Tamarama and Clovelly Surf Lifesaving Clubs are proud to be back again this year with the 2011 TamaCloey Ocean Odyssey. The swim is a fantastic community event and an invaluable fundraiser for our surf clubs with sponsorship monies raised going towards purchasing vital lifesaving equipment.”

“If you’re a little nervous, don’t be! Your safety is a number one priority and the swim course is under the watchful eye of a big team of experienced lifesavers with the weather conditions monitored carefully,” said Turner.

This year swimmers will be helping to raise money and awareness for the Black Dog Institute with $5 of each registration fee will be donated to the Black Dog Institute.
