New Arthur’s Owners Hit The Spot
Having introduced modern pizza to Sydney back in the early 70s through their original Charing Cross and Paddington stores, Arthur’s Pizza became quite the institution. As time has past, the Arthur’s brand has spread its wings, opening in a number of locations including Bondi Junction and Randwick, with each store independently owned and operated by different franchisees. This has given each site a unique style under the banner of the Arthur’s Pizza brand.
The Arthur’s site in Randwick has had a mixed recent history, but no matter what you may have heard, the new owners are bringing this place back to the glory it deserves.
Local couple David and Lucie took over the site at The Spot just over three months ago and after a few issues at the beginning of their tenure they are now well on track. Lucie manages the restaurant and with five years prior experience at Boncafe she has got the place ship-shape, while David’s business and sales acumen from his background in real estate has been invaluable, and observing his enthusiasm for this venture is quite captivating.
The couple recently became engaged, they live locally and they’re keen be a big part of community. One of their main goals at Arthur’s is to bring the families back.
When you arrive at Arthur’s you are immediately greeted at the door by a welcoming smile. If you decide to eat-in, the dining area is a slick mix of modern brown wood and contemporary finishes with polished surfaces. The space is very family friendly with lots of room to spread out. If, however, you decide to enjoy your food in the comfort of your own home, Arthur’s also offers free delivery.
The menu is a shrine to the concept and tradition of Arthur’s. They haven’t messed with what has made this brand so successful for so long. All the classics are present so there is definitely something for everyone. The pizzas boast a delicious thin and crispy base and the toppings are generous and made from top quality fresh ingredients.
Try the Sassari, a perfect combination of lamb, fetta, red onion, sweet potato and mint, or the Parma, which is topped with salty slices of prosciutto de crudo and peppery baby rocket. There is also a great range of pastas and salads available and they are all great value for money.
If you have a sweet tooth, Lucie’s famous tiramisu should not be missed. It’s a gem.
David and Lucie really have given this place a fantastic new lease of life and they deserve every success. They serve food good honest food at reasonable prices and they’re keen to become a big part of the community once again. So leave any prejudices you may have behind and give this couple a go – you won’t regret it.
