In a move that will have many yoga buffs packing their Lululemon bags and searching for their passports, the team behind Coogee’s favourite yoga studio, The Livingroom Yoga School, has now launched The Yoga Travel Company, offering adventurous yogis a range of exciting international yoga retreats.

Their sell-out first retreat to the magical Balinese town of Ubud last November created a perfect balance between holidaying and yoga practice, with delicious Balinese banquets thrown in for good measure.

“There was a fantastic vibe you can’t really attain when travelling alone or with a partner,” Livingroom founder Rodney Sen said.

There are several retreats planned to beautiful places in Bali in 2014, catering to both those who take their yoga practice very seriously and those wanting a more relaxing yogic experience.

“Bali has been the main focus because it’s a very spiritual place filled with luxurious resorts that are incredibly comfortable without being pretentious or overpriced,” Mr. Sen said.

The Yoga Travel Company’s retreats also focus on giving back. The November Bali retreat donated $2000 to the UNHCR Syria Crisis Appeal and $1000 to the Malala Yousafzai Foundation.

“Our big vision is to create an ethical holiday. You feel good about going overseas because a portion of the money you’re spending is going to a local community. It’s a commitment we make,” Mr. Sen said.

The future holds big plans including trips to exotic destinations like Hawaii, India and Africa on the cards. So keep your yoga mat and passport at the ready!
