William’s Walk

By Georgia Swanborough on April 5, 2012 in News

What better way can you think of to spend your Sunday than strolling along our beautiful Bondi to Bronte coastal walk? This month, there is more than one reason to do just that (and we’re not talking about burning those excess calories).

Arthritis NSW, along with the William’s Wish Foundation, have organised William’s Walk, which will take place on April 22 on the coastal walk.

Although it is not widely known, one in 1000 children suffer from some form of arthritis. This time last year, William Harris passed away at the age of six. The cause of his early passing was systemic onset Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), a form of arthritis that affects youths.

After his death, William’s mother Lauren Harris decided that her son was far too loud in life could ever go quietly, so to remember William and raise awareness and funds for Arthritis NSW, William’s Walk was born.

The funds raised from this great event will go towards Camp Footloose and Camp Twinkletoes. Each camp provides a fun and exciting environment for children, parents and guardians to learn about their condition and how to cope with it.

William’s Walk has already raised over $3,500 from online donations and a lot more is needed to reach the goal of $60,000.
