Bondi Cinema Club
FOXTROT (R) 2018 Dir. Samuel Maoz, cast Lior Ashkenazi, Sarah Adler, Yonaton Shiray
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Venice Film Festival. Israeli director Samuel Maoz’s second film is thick with metaphor but also emotion and a visual style that conveys much of the director’s insight into Israeli culture caught as he sees it in lasting conflict with itself. A surprising, carefully constructed and compelling story that moves from gritty realism to moments of magic realism which all have a lasting impact.
