Video of the Week – Semi Kunatani Comes Home
I was on the phone earlier this week to former Wallaby, Super Rugby star and Galloping Greens stalwart Stephen Hoiles.
I didn’t realise when I called him, but Hoilesy (a Coogee boy) was actually over in Fiji at the time, working on a story for The Other Rugby Show on Fox Sports.
He told me a bit about what he was doing and said he’d been blown away by the experience.
Basically, they’d returned to the small village where one of Fiji’s Olympic gold medal winning rugby sevens players, Semi Kunatani, had grown up. It was his first time back to the village since winning the historic medal (Fiji’s first ever).
The story is quite incredible, and it gives further perspective to the impact that this gold medal has had on the island nation.
