April’s Frother Of The Month, Pama Davies, is a cool kid with loads of potential and a great head of hair…

Name: Pamatatau (Pama) Davies
Age: 16
Local Break: Bondi south end
Board Shaper/Dimensions: Andrew Harris radical boards, 5’11” x 18 ¼” x 2 ¼” rounded pins

What is the best thing about surfing at Bondi?

Everybody underestimates Bondi’s waves. The funnest thing about surfing Bondi is the rip bowls we get. We have always got them and it’s always at least two feet.

And the worst thing?

The worst aspect is probably the local crowd.

Do you ever venture past South Hill and surf at the other Eastern Beaches?

I mainly try to head down south to get away from the crowds but I do love Whaley Wedge, it’s epic!

Are there any local surfers that you look up to?

I would have to say I look up to Luke Mussett because of his sharp, powerful surfing.

Last year we picked 38-year-old Bondi Boardrider Ian Wallace’s brain and he reckoned that if he attempted any of your manoeuvres he’d end up in traction. What differences in surfing do you see between the older generation and your younger crew?

Ian Wallace surfs really well! I guess today’s surfing is completely different to when he was growing up and the future of surfing is heading above to wave (aerials). He was brought up in different times of surfing. Us younger crew have a lot to learn from the ‘old dudes’.

You seem to stick at a certain manoeuvre until you nail it; are you mastering a specific trick at the moment?

I love doing air reverses! I’ve just been trying to get those to a full rotation. Also just normal turns and bustin’ them fins out.

Have you had the opportunity to surf overseas yet?

I try to head out of town as much as I can. I love Bali and I was just in Samoa. It’s good to have these new experiences and surf new waves. It also keeps someone’s love for the sport alive, as corny as that sounds.

Where do you see surfing taking you in the future? Is it something you are interested in competitively or just for the fun of it?

I will have to wait and see. I love surfing and the competitive side is where the fun is at!

Any last words?
