Randwick resident and IT project manager Anton Katz shares his local favourites with The Beast…

How long have you lived here?
I’ve lived in the E’burbs since I’ve lived in Sydney, which is October 2005. I currently live in Randwick but have lived in Bondi, Rose Bay and Bronte. I think Randwick is the area I’ve liked the most; people seem friendlier, it’s nice and quiet and it’s quick into the city or down the coast.

What’s your favourite beach?
All things considered, Maroubra is probably my favourite beach. It’s the quickest to get to, there’s generally always parking and the beach and water are less crowded than the other beaches. The vibe is a lot mellower than the other beaches too.

What’s your favourite eatery?
I don’t eat out that much but my faves would be Chat Thai in Coogee, Ten in Randwick for sushi and for pub food I still rate the Golden Sheaf in Double Bay.

Where do you like to have a drink?
Anywhere I don’t get thrown out – generally the Robin Hood, Clovelly Hotel or North Bondi RSL.

Do you have a favourite sporting team?
The Roosters. They’ve started off reasonably well this season so let’s hope they have a better season than last year.

What music are you into at the moment?
I’m currently listening to The Lumineers, Soundgarden, Xavier Rudd, Nick Cave and any number of other tunes my iPod spits out.

Who is your favourite person?
There are too many to list.

What do you get up to on the weekends?
I generally take it easy after a long week at work, which includes surfing locally at either Bondi or Maroubra or heading down the South Coast, dinner and drinks with friends, barbecues in summer and getting out and seeing a bit of live music as often as I can.

What do you do for work?
I’m an IT project manager working for MasterCard Technologies.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?
It’s really rewarding successfully implementing a project when the timelines have been tight and there have been lots of bottlenecks along the way.

Do you have a favourite quote?
“Human life is like a drop of water in a hot frying pan – it’s over that quickly.”

Any other words of wisdom for readers of The Beast?
That would imply that I have some level of intelligence! Going by my favourite quote and not trying to sound too clichéd: live your life to the best of your ability and make the most of your time on this planet, do your best to not have any regrets, try not to let adversity in life hold you back and, most importantly, be sure to show the people that are important in your life just how much they mean to you.
