Waverley resident and events co-ordinator Ann Steyn shares her local favourites with The Beast…

How long have you lived in Waverley?
Over 35 years. I was a student of St Charles Primary School and St Clares College, Waverley.

What’s your favourite beach?
This summer I would have to say Bondi Beach. We are teaching our youngest son to surf so Bondi’s the place. It’s like three beaches in one, depending on where you sit. I love the colourful creativity that oozes around Bondi.

What’s your favourite eatery?
Well it’s hard to choose. You can’t beat Cafe Salina at Bronte Beach for breakfast and we’ve been regulars at Java Indonesian Restaurant in Randwick for over 20 years.

Where do you like to have a drink?
I would have to say the Cloey; it’s an all-time local and you’re always bound to bump into an old friend when you’re there.

Do you have a favourite sporting team?
Our youngest son plays in Under 8s for the Clovelly Eagles rugby union club and our eldest son plays for Randwick. We have been supporting Randwick for years – up the Wicks!

What music are you into at the moment?
Well my boys don’t give me much of an opportunity to listen to tunes of my choosing, but when I’m in the kitchen cooking (I try to avoid that room as much as possible) I like Smooth FM95.3. When I’m on my own I’ll sneak a bit of Fleetwood Mac and Sting on.

Who is your favourite person?
Is this where I should say “My lovely husband”?!

What do you get up to on the weekends?
Now that it’s rugby season and with a husband and two sons totally devoted to the game, that becomes my weekend!

What do you do for work?
I have an events business called Lotus Event and Lifestyle Management, which has recently expanded
into Bali. Our service includes co-ordinating weddings, milestone birthdays, golf tours, events for other special occasions and the booking of private villas. We are currently in the process of introducing fitness retreats in Bali. It’s an exciting time for us.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?
It really doesn’t feel like work. I enjoy meeting new people and having the opportunity to spend more time in Bali – someone has to keep updated with the beautiful villas!

Do you have a favourite quote?
“Energy goes where attention flows.”
