Local Chick – Rheannon Cearns From Coogee
Coogee resident Rheannon Cearns opened up her own florist shop just over a year ago and is living her dream. Rheannon shares her local favourites with The Beast…How long have you lived here?
I have been in and out and living all over the Eastern Suburbs for the last eight years. I’m in Coogee now and loving it.
What’s your favourite beach?
I would have to say Clovelly as it has the deep water out the back, and it is really refreshing jumping off the side not knowing how far you will fall.
What’s your favourite eatery?
Definitely Bronte Carlo – one of my favourite places for a BLATA! When we walk in for breakfast they already know my order, and the owners there are just so lovely and always have happy smiles on their faces.
Where do you like to have a drink?
I love the Clovelly Hotel. It has a really good atmosphere and vibe to the place. Then again, I love trying out new wine bars and pop-up bars that are around the area too, especially if they have sangria on hand.
Do you have a favourite sporting team?
I would have to say the St George Illawarra Dragons. My dad follows them, so I have been bought up watching and attending their games.
What music are you into at the moment?
I really love happy, upbeat music. I will turn anything up that I can dance to. My number one girl would have to be Beyonce, without fail; she knows how to make a room come to life!
Who is your favourite person?
My boyfriend Ashley; I adore him and I am so lucky that I have him in my life. He helped me bring my dream to life with my flower shop, and having your dream become a reality is just priceless.
What do you get up to on the weekends?
I am either bringing brides’ flower dreams to life on their wedding day or catching up with family and friends. I enjoy hanging out with my boyfriend, sleeping in and relaxing.
What do you do for work?
I opened up a florist shop called Rheannon Lee Floral Designs in Clovelly just over a year ago. We create really unique and different styles of bouquets, weddings and events. Come in and check it out for yourself.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
The look on a bride’s face when I hand her a bouquet for her special day. When they cry happy tears it just melts my heart that I was able to help make their day so special.
Do you have a favourite quote?
My now guardian angel wrote on my shop wall on my opening night: “The sky is your limit.” We used to push, motivate and encourage each other constantly. Even though he is not here with me anymore, I live by that quote and know that he is in the sky still encouraging me to be my best.
Any other words of wisdom for readers of The Beast?
Follow your dreams. If you have a passion, a drive or a dream, make it happen. I wake up every day not feeling like I’m at work. I love what I do and it makes all the difference.
