Video of the Week – Is Bob Hawke’s Joke Funny, Racist Or Both?
Former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke took time to tell a joke at the recent celebrations of the 30th anniversary of Australia’s America’s Cup victory.
On stage, in the same legendary jacket he wore on television back in the 80s, Bob shared a joke with the men who financed and skippered the endeavour, Alan Bond and John Bertrand.
To some the joke was innocent humor, but to others it was seen as insensitive and racist, to many others it was amusing.
What do you think: harmless and funny, or racist and insensitive?
I laughed. Does that make me a bad person?
