Earlier this year Coogee lost an iconic piece of the local furniture, Rodney ‘Itchy Rat’ Hore. Rod was an energetic, loveable and spontaneous character. As a keen surfer it was hard to find Rod away from the beach unless the surf was no good. In these rare circumstances you’d find him listening to a vast array of music ranging from blues to heavy metal. He was a lover of all types of music as long as it had an energetic feel to it.

As such, a concert in Rod’s memory seems only fitting and will be held on Friday, August 12, from 7pm to 11.30pm at the Coogee Bay Hotel’s live music venue, Selina’s.

‘Ratfest’, as it will be known, will raise funds for the Black Dog Institute and will feature five of the best hardcore/punk bands in Australia including Homeward Bound, Relentless, Frequencies, The Ramshackle Army and hardcore legends Toe to Toe, who will headline the fundraising event.

Organisers are still seeking raffle prizes so if you have something to donate please contact Pete Wilson on pwilson@royalrandwick.com.

Tickets for Ratfest are just $25 and can be purchased at www.oztix.com.au or By San Sebastian on Coogee Bay Road.
