Kid Mac Can Hear You Calling

By Dan Hutton on March 17, 2011 in Arts

Maroubra MC Kid Mac (Macario De Souza) is pleased to announce his first ever Australian headline tour, proudly presented by MBK Clothing.

The multi-talented Kid Mac made his name as the filmmaker of popular local doco ‘Bra Boys’ but he has since poured most of his energy into his musical pursuits.

Mac hits the road this month, starting out at the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi on March 19, in support of his brand spanking new single ‘Hear You Calling’. The track, featuring Mat McHugh from The Beautiful Girls, is an infectious collaboration that crosses musical genres perfectly. The track has already caught the attention of major TV networks in the US.

Mac has spent much of the past 18 months in the studio writing and working alongside Melbourne-based producers Twice As Nice and Grammy award-winning producer RZA from Wu Tang Clan. Collaborations with acts like Mat McHugh  have kept fans anticipating a long-time-coming debut LP release.

Outside the studio, Mac has been hitting the touring circuit with his four-piece band in tow, blowing up dance floors here and overseas as a support act for US artists Mickey Avalon and Wu Tang Clan, and on stage at festivals including Playground Weekender, Ripe Festival (Noosa) and The Pro Show (Gold Coast and Cairns). He’s also supported one of Brazil’s most accomplished hip hop artist, Marcelo D2, Australia’s own The Beautiful Girls and dynamic hip hop act Bliss N Eso, along with several headline shows here in Sydney.

The Hear You Calling single is available on iTunes and Amazon now.

The Beach Road gig kicks off at 8pm on March 19 with Bayside Wreckers, My Life, Dax Golding, Chung and DJ Bobby Digital warming up the stage, and tickets are just $10 plus booking fee presale from www.moshtix.com.au or $15 on the door.
