Eastern Beaches locals can look forward to lacing up their boots, pulling on a beanie and heading down to Bondi Beach this winter because the good folk at Waverley Council have announced that after a one-year hiatus, Australia’s only beachside ice rink is back!

This year, for the first time, the ice rink will sit in front of the Bondi Pavilion, providing breathtaking views for skaters, as well as the unique opportunity to humiliate oneself in front of hundreds of fellow novice skaters at Australia’s most famous beach.

Waverley Mayor Sally Betts said she was delighted the ice rink would be back at Bondi again this year.

“Whether you prefer skating under the stars or the warm winter sun, the ice rink will be a unique and fun activity for everyone to enjoy. Who can imagine a more breathtaking setting?” Cr Betts said.

The ice rink at Bondi beach is part of the Bondi Winter Magic destination marketing campaign, which is in its fifth year. Bondi Winter Magic was developed by Waverley Council and the Bondi & Districts Chamber of Commerce to boost business to Bondi in the traditionally quieter winter months.

The ice rink will be open at Bondi Beach from June 27 to July 13 between 10am and 9pm each day.
