From Green Room To Gallery

When he’s not out in the brine boosting airs or getting barreled, Bronte surfer Caleb Reid spends most of his time pursuing his other favourite hobby, painting.

While he’s best known these days for his graffiti style graphics on the walls of his brother’s award wining café-cum-restaurant Three Blue Ducks, he’s also adept at applying acrylic to canvas, which is what he’s been doing in preparation for his debut exhibition.

“I have a series of paintings that are multi-layered works from my mind that fight and hug with tension and movement and I’m going to be exhibiting them at an art space in Woolloomooloo in October,” Reid told The Beast.

The exhibition will also feature a series of exciting drawings by Reid’s girlfriend and National Art School cohort Siena White.

“Siena has an ability to capture the raw emotion of a person in her portraits and puts a major importance of drawing in her work,” Reid added.

The exhibition is on at Studio W, 6 Bourke Street, Woolloomooloo, right next to the Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel. It opens on Thursday October 11 and runs for a week.
