Remo Kickstarts Bondi Memories

By Marcus Braid on November 11, 2014 in News

Creative strategist Remo Giuffre has a self-professed long love affair with Bondi.

And thanks to a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, Mr Giuffre has been able to pen a book, General Thinker, which includes several chapters devoted to Bondi.

“I’m based in Bondi and have been for a very long time,” Mr Giuffre said. “There are chapters in there and one is called ‘Bondi Beach’, which describes my relationship with the neighbourhood.

“One is called ‘Bondi Icebergs and the Sauna Diaries’, which is about my morning routine there. It’s about all of the crazy people and the interesting rants that you have in that sauna.”

General Thinker is a visual memoir to be released in November accounting for the ups and downs in Mr Giuffre’s colourful professional life.

“Every few years for the last 10 or 15 I’ve thought that I’ve had so many ups and downs in this interesting entrepreneurial life, it would probably be something that people would find interesting,” Mr Giuffre said.

“There’s been some success, but there have also been some truly brilliant failures as well.”

Mr Giuffre was able to underwrite the book through a colleague he met at the TEDx conference in Vancouver and generate the proceeds back through a Kickstarter campaign that netted more than $47,000.

“I know a lot of people in Sydney, so I had a bit of a head start there, but it does show that people are willing to dip into their pockets,” Mr Giuffre said. “When you’re publishing, the rewards are effectively pre-sales of your book.”
