Waverley Council Recognises Its Brightest and Best Businesses

By Dan Hutton on September 30, 2011 in News

Waverley Council’s Brightest and Best Business Awards are back again, brighter and better than ever.

The Brightest and Best Business Awards look to recognise, promote and reward the contribution of local businesses across Waverley in respect of their efforts to make it a dynamic place to live, work and shop.

To qualify for the awards, local businesses had to self-nominate through the Waverley Council website and by doing so they stand gain some well deserved recognition. The awards are open to all types of business, large or small, retail or non-retail but they do exclude the larger shopping complexes.

The Brightest and Best Business Awards bring outstanding businesses to the attention of the entire community, creating further business exposure and networking opportunity.

Nominations are now closed and an independent expert judging panel is plying through the many entries, assessing how the nominees promote their business and maintain excellence in business presentation and customer service, as well as indentifying their unique points of difference.

In doing so they have whittled the nominees down to just over one hundred finalists spread over three mandatory categories including:

Brightest and Best Front and Broadest Smile – For retail, health and beauty, cafe and restaurant, and business support and professional services.

Brightest and Best New Business with Bounce – For businesses trading in the area for less than 12 months.

Brightest and Best Brontosaurus – For those business that have been operating in the Waverley LGA for 15 years or more.

To cap off what is already an amazing awards program, Waverley Council will also recognise local businesses that have a civic heart, are conscious of their green footprint, are aware of making their business accessible for all customers and are waste conscious.

The winners will be announced a gala awards presentation that will take place under the canopy of umbrellas on Oxford Street Mall on the evening of Monday, October 10. The Mayor of Waverley will be on hand to present the awards with the help of the event’s many sponsors.

The awards are proudly supported by Worldwide Online Printing Bondi, MYOB, Netregistry, Swiss Grand Hotel, the Bondi and Districts Chamber of Commerce and The Beast. Without the sponsors and the support of Waverley Council and its two place management offices the awards would not be possible.

A special thanks must also go to local business Funky Pies, which will be responsible for the catering at the gala awards presentation night.

There are many hidden treasures in the Waverley area and the Brightest and Best Business Awards seek to give them the recognition they deserve.
