360 Days Of Hidden Treasures

By The Rocker Shopper on September 7, 2011 in Other

What a year I have had being the Rocker Shopper! I have discovered some awesome hot spots and have to admit that I was very reluctant to share them with you all.

Having done so, I hope you have gone to check them all out for yourselves. We are so lucky to have all these amazing local enclaves in Waverley with their butchers, bakers, grocers, delicatessens, florists, post offices, chemists, art galleries, restaurants, cafes, barbers, hardware store, kids’ boutiques, clothing and shoe stores, jewellers, furniture warehouses, tailors, photographic studies, beauty salons, hairdressers, nail bars, pubs and clubs – do I really need to go on?

I love shopping in places where someone has the time to spend on me to make sure I get just what I want, where I can find unusual and quirky things, high quality products that I can touch, feel and taste if necessary.

Let’s work together to ensure that our unique villages don’t disappear by supporting our local businesses. See you on the streets…

Macpherson Street & Surrounds

This is one of Waverley’s coolest restaurant and brasserie strips as well as being home to the famous Three Blue Ducks café and Iggy’s Bakery, which attracts ‘breadaholics’ from all over Sydney!

Bronte Beach Café Strip

This is undoubtedly the best place for a laid back vibe, great food and wonderful views, whether it be day, night, summer, spring, winter or autumn. There’s also a great park for picnics.

Charing Cross, Bronte road

Known to the locals as ‘Charro’, this historical strip is home to some of the coolest eclectic fashion, jewellery and designer shops, as well as homewares, bicycles, pets and bathroom fittings.

Bondi Junction – Oxford Street Mall, Waverley Street Mall, Oxford Street West (The Junga)

If mammoth shopping centres are not your thing, step into the outdoors and stroll around the streets of Bondi Junction to discover a treat around every corner.

Seven Ways (Blair St, Glenayr Ave and Beach Rd)

This is the organic heart of Waverley, where you can enjoy the many and varied shops, cafes, restaurants, juice bars and even a butcher selling organic meats. This is the place to bunker down, revive and rediscover your inner healthy self. It’s seventh Heaven.

Bondi Town Centre, South Bondi and North Bondi

Golden sands, blue skies, surf, ocean pools, cliff walks, chic, grungy, retro, cutting edge, trendy, buffed, designer dogs, bikinis, boardies, bling – you name it, Bondi’s got it.

Bondi Road

The ‘jewel in the crown’ between Bondi Junction and Bondi Beach, this strip has everything from bagels to French patisseries, paint brushes and canvasses to handmade chocolates, kebabs to tapas, pubs to wine bars. It’s also home to the Eastern Suburbs Community College and Waverley/Woollahra Art School, so it’s also probably one of Waverley’s best-educated streets too!

Rose Bay, Old South Head Road

Not just a sleepy harbour village, the Rose Bay shopping strip on Old South Head Road has a cache of shopping treasures long known and supported by its local residents. For non-locals, this village is ripe for discovery.
