A Day Down At Beautiful Bronte Beach

By Rocker Shopper on April 8, 2011 in Other

Rocker Shopper decided to hang up the shopping boots and bag this month because she’s really looking forward to the opportunity to relax and enjoy the last days of sunshine and warmth that usually accompany Easter time. Kicking back and indulging in a three-hour brunch down at Bronte Beach (the best strip of sand in the world in my humble opinion) with nearest and dearest is definitely on the agenda.

It’s hard to beat looking out over the beach with the waves rolling in and the buzz of activity from nippers, young families, joggers, surfers and bathers – it’s a feast for the senses!

And it’s not often that I am overwhelmed by the choice of which café or restaurant to go to but this strip just has so much going on it’s always a challenge – they offer such an amazing variety of delicious dining experiences, from simple breakfast to fine dining.

If it’s a hangover cure you’re after, Nino’s Juice Bar offers fresh juices, fantastic smoothies, and freezing cold frappes that will definitely take the edge off, leaving you both refreshed and detoxified.

When the tummy is really rumbling, the big breakfast with the works at Jenny’s is hard to beat and the value for money is amazing too.

Sweet tooths might want to pop in to the Bronte Pistachio for mid-morning treat of their renowned gelato. They also boast a modern Australian menu that’s bursting with flavour too so you could start your day here and never leave.

Further up the strip, The Bogey Hole café (named after the local swimming spot) has the best homemade burgers and muffins going around and it’s one of the longest operating establishments down at the beach, a testament to the quality of product they offer.

Another favourite is Café Salina for a relaxed dinner or a lazy lunch and hoovering a huge pile of fish and chips from Fishy Bite in the park has been a Friday ritual since I was a child (back when Fish Shop Bob owned the joint!). For those watching the waistline, they’ll even grill your fish these days – how fancy!

There are so many great places to choose from but my mind is made up – I’m going to start with lunch at Café Q, followed by afternoon tea at Bronte Lounge, then I’ll slink (or plod) my way over to Swell for dinner where owner Sandy Bruns is bound to provide a fine dining experience like no other – I can’t wait to watch the sun set over Bronte Beach. It makes you feel like you are in paradise!

Thankfully a steep climb up Bronte Road to my home on Murray Street awaits afterwards to work off my indulgent afternoon. I can pop into Rose To Sew and see how my blinds and cushion covers are coming along, pick up my dry cleaning and the hubby’s ironing from the Laundromat and grab some milk (skim, of course) for the following morning’s cuppa from the convenience store.

I just love Bronte Beach. It’s all about the lifestyle, great food and wonderful views –who would want to spend Easter anywhere else!
