Coogee resident and Audi sales guru Shane Sonego shares his local favourites with The Beast…

How long have you lived here?
I have been living in Coogee for 15 years, but I’m a born and bred Maroubra local at heart.

What’s your favourite beach?
There is no better beach than Maroubra. I love the place.

What’s your favourite eatery?
At the moment it’s Tapavino down near Customs House at Circular Quay. It’s got such a cool vibe and the food and wine are amazing.

Do you have a favourite sporting team?
The South Sydney Rabbitohs – go the bunnies! I can’t wait for the next season to begin.

Where do you like to have a drink?
With summer upon us, I like anywhere with a view of the ocean. Bondi Icebergs is definitely a favourite. I also love North Bondi Fish, which opened at the old North Bondi Italian site below the RSL. Matt Moran certainly knows how to create a great venue.

What music are you into at the moment?
I love all types of music. That said, I think Lorde is cool and I really like Avicii. They sound particularly good when played through the speakers of an Audi.

What do you get up to on the weekends?
I’m in sales so I work a lot of weekends, but when I’m off I love getting out for a surf or going for a nice lunch with my wife.

What do you do for work?
I work for Audi Centre Sydney in sales. If you’re after a great new car I am the person to talk to. You can give me a call any time on 0404 877 793.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?
The cars I get to drive. Audi build the best cars in the world and I’m lucky enough to get to drive them day in, day out. And I work with a great bunch of people too, which means getting up and going to work is something I actually look forward to.

Who is your favourite person?
My wife, Angela. She is the most caring and loving person I have ever known. She is an absolute saint
for putting up with me and I can’t imagine what my life would be like without her.

Do you have a favourite quote?
“Even after all this time, the sun never says to the Earth: ‘You owe me’. Look what happens to a love like that – it lights up the whole sky.”

Do you have any other words of wisdom for readers of The Beast?
Don’t rush through life; try to live in the moment and enjoy every day. You’ll find that it all passes by very quickly.
