Style. It’s that air of self-assuredness, the indefinable je ne sais quoi that appears effortless, uncontrived.

While Parisian women have style by the designer bag-full, it looks like many of our local ladies do too – as voted by you in my current survey: ‘Who Is Sydney’s Most Stylish Woman?’. The vote so far is split: Miranda Kerr has the title with 32% of the vote, followed by Cate Blancett with 24% and Quentin Bryce with 16%.

Interestingly, Quentin Bryce is the only woman who has received votes from every age group. Okay, so she’s not everyone’s cup of tea but her across-the-board appeal is probably due to her clearly identifiable style. No matter your age, you have to acknowledge that she has an unfailingly elegant and sophisticated style. What do you think? It’s not too late to cast your vote. Just jump on to my website and let me know your thoughts to go into the draw to win a style makeover.

So how does Quentin Bryce dress so effortlessly? With a ‘capsule’ wardrobe: a collection of coordinated clothes that can be used across many outfits for many occasions. To create your own capsule wardrobe start by identifying your style, whether it’s girly, boho, edgy or even sophisticated like the G-G herself, and then stick to it. Soon, instead of looking at wardrobe full of mismatched pieces, you’ll see complete outfits that work together flawlessly and, voila, you’ll become known for your distinct, consistent and effortless style.

If you don’t have time to create your own capsule wardrobe, don’t do nothing. Do what Miranda Kerr and Cate Blanchett do and get a stylist, like their very own Jessica Paster (she’s styled them both). A stylist with sartorial vision can alter a person’s style with astounding results. Look at Nicole Richie for a case in point. The deft hand of super-stylist Rachel Zoe helped transform her from a notorious role as Paris Hilton’s scrappy sidekick to the celebrated boho-beauty she is today.
