Clovelly hair stylist and makeup artist Abigail Sheridan shares her local favourites with The Beast…

How long have you lived here?

Three years.

Have you always lived locally?

No, but now that we live here we will never leave; I absolutely love it!

What’s your favourite beach?

My kids absolutely love Clovelly Beach as it feels quite protected and they can swim, explore the rocks or make sandcastles – there is quite a bit for them to do. And I love Bondi Beach for the atmosphere and people-watching.

What’s your favourite eatery?

There are quite a few that we love; Wet Paint, Three Blue Ducks, Darley St Bistro Clovelly, Cafe Salina and the Clovelly Hotel.

Where do you like to have a drink?

At the Cloey Hoey (Clovelly Hotel), and I’m loving the Bucket List in Bondi lately as well. Other than that, I love barbecues at either my house or friends’ houses where we can enjoy a bubbles or two while watching the kids frolic (at least that is always the plan).

Do you have a favourite sporting team?

My netball team. I play in the Love Netball Sports League at Bondi on a Wednesday – great bunch of girls all getting out and having a run around and no one really cares too much who wins. Netball is always the winner on the day.

What music are you into at the moment?

Anything I can run to; a bit of Knife Party, Presets, Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip, some Ministry of Sound mix for the beginning of the run and then turn it up with Nero, Skrillex or some old school Prodigy for the hills and stairs – anything to stop me thinking about the burn in my legs!

Who is your favourite person?

I have many but will pinpoint my amazing husband as without him, nothing is possible.

What do you get up to on the weekends?

Definitely not what I used to get up to in my twenties… however, a fabulous weekend includes training at Lifecycle Fitness on the Saturday morning, a couple of hair and makeup jobs during the day and then dinner out locally in the evening with my hubby and our friends, with Sunday generally being spent meandering along the coastal walk with my family and just hanging out.

What do you do for work?

I am a mobile hair stylist and makeup artist and the name of my business is Zhoosh Me. I work mainly in the Eastern Suburbs, either at the client’s house or my own studio. I do makeup applications, masterclasses, lessons and also hair styling.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?

I love so much about what I do! I love the transformation of hair and makeup – being able to create a gorgeous look for someone and teach them something a bit different from what they normally do is very gratifying. I am surrounded by beautiful colours and textures when I work and the creativity of using them in a way that enhances the face and hair is so rewarding. Also, being a part of someone’s preparation for any event is a lovely and exciting time – be it a wedding, party, formal, or just because they feel like a change in their look.

Do you have a favourite quote?

“Every outing deserves a Zhoosh” (shameless self-promotion).
