Local Favourites – Rachael Fisher

By Dan Hutton on July 4, 2011 in People

Rachael Fisher is a teacher and founder of KindKids Project, a resilience-building program for schools and kids in the local community. She has been living in the Eastern Suburbs for the last five years, and has a soft spot for the beautiful cliffs of Clovelly where she now lives. Rachael shares her local favourites with the Beast…

Favourite Beach: I love catching the early morning sun at Clovelly in summer but Bronte is just gorgeous in winter.

Eatery: I stroll up to Three Blue Ducks café on Macpherson Street, Bronte. They do a scrummy linguine.

Watering Hole: I do so enjoy an occasional velvety glass of red at the lovely little cubby house by the beach, Bondi Massive.

Sporting Team: My brother told me to say the Roosters.

Music: I am a bit of a musical gypsy. I danced my butt off to the fabulous music at Woodford Festival.

Person: One of my favourite people is my brother Jono, who runs an inspiring project called wakeupsydney.com.au.

Weekend Activity: I enjoy hanging out at Gertrudes in Bondi, especially now that it’s getting chilly. They do fabulous chai.

Quote: “The sky is a suspended blue ocean.” – Hafiz.

Favourite Thing About Your Work: Kids are such fun to work with. They constantly inspire me with their aliveness and endless sense of curiosity and wonder.

Final Word: For me it is time to rethink ‘kindness’ as a valued life skill… to learn how to treat ourselves, each other and the Earth with great care and friendship. I feel really gratified to be able to help kids feel genuinely resourceful, calm and basically happy from the inside out.
