Originally from Newcastle, Coogee photographer Shannon has lived in the east on and off for ten years now. Shannon owns and operates Iris Photography, offering professional photography services at affordable rates. She’s been shooting for over ten years and specialises in weddings, celebrations and portraits. Shannon shares her local favourites with The Beast…

Favourite Beach: Coogee when it’s nice and calm. Floating out the back is the best way to unwind after a busy day.

Eatery : My favourite local spot for a bite to eat is The Spanish Fly at The Spot, Randwick. I daydream about their warm chocolate pudding.

Watering Hole: North Bondi RSL for the great view over Bondi Beach and the relaxed atmosphere. Pull up a chair on the balcony and watch the sun go down over Bondi.

Sporting Team: The Wallabies, I’ll be off to NZ for the World Cup with fingers crossed.

Music: Hmm, a bit of a mixture… I’m a child of the ’80s so I like some retro stuff and I’m enjoying Jessie J at the moment because she can actually sing!

Weekend Activity: Cafes, cooking up a feast at home and relaxing near the beach if I’m not working.

Quote: “Sometimes it’s nice to be important but it’s always important to be nice!”

Favourite Thing About Your Work: I get to be a part of these fun, amazing and sometimes emotional events in people’s lives and record them as beautiful photographs so they can be cherished by generations to come.

Final Word: Don’t let ‘Uncle Jim’ shoot your wedding or function, a professional photographer is worth every cent. Visit www.irisphotography.info or call me on 0416 396 866.
