Video Of The Week – Hometown Tama

By Dan Hutton on June 20, 2011 in Video

I stumbled across this video by Tamarama’s Marcus O’Brien last week, having heard talk about it on the street.

It was filmed a couple of weeks back when some sizable swells were hitting our beaches.

The Westpac helicopter was searching for a surfer who was thought to have gone missing but eventually showed up on the beach (I believe).

This is one of the best video depictions of our local area that I have seen .

When you’ve finished watching, be sure to click through to Marcus’ Vimeo page and leave a comment.

  1. In respect to the mentioned missing surfer (which Westpac Rescue chopper was searching for) a local sitting on the headland in front of Tama surf club contacted police after seeing a surfer get smashed up against the rocks (twins between Tama + Bronte). I was standing next to the police as he detailed this information to them.

After a land and air search of that area no injured surfer was located after about 45 mins so all pulled out.

Guess the observer must have been mistaken……What a day.
