Video of the Week – Bondi Stormwater System

By Dan Hutton on October 20, 2013 in Video

Waverley Council ‘Bondi Stormwater System’ from RandomBlowup on Vimeo.

The Bondi Stormwater System is actually a bloody great initiative by Waverley Council and this little computer animation that they’ve put together outlines how it all works.

For all the grief they get (and yes, we dish it out sometimes), Waverley Council are quite a progressive mob and they generally have a good crack at making the area the best place in the world to live.

If only they could come up with some sort of Parking Inspector System whereby they harvested all those bastards and pumped them out to sea! Wishful thinking?

  1. This is a terrific article, and such a good thing for Waverley to have done. I have sent the link to our Mayor in Randwick, the Councillors and the General Manager of the Council; if Waverley Council can do this, so can Randwick. At Maroubra Beach we have put up with untreated stormwater entering the ocean at the beach for decades. The large “Rubic’s Cube” stormwater drain at the North end does have a gross pollutant trap (in front of the pub), but the one at the South end of the beach (behind the dunes) that collects the stormwater from the whole of South Maroubra lets totally untreated filthy stormwater out into the Bay, VIA THE KIDS’ POOLS!!! We have been begging the council to do something about this for some time, but I was told by the Council engineer that it was an “acceptable practice” everywhere. Not any more – Waverley has raised the bar. Thank you so much for posting this video.
