Video of the Week – Coogee Beach Library

By Dan Hutton on December 14, 2014 in Video

Sydney’s first outdoor beach library is now open down at Coogee Beach.

No membership is required; you can just grab a book and return it when you’re done.

The library stocks novels, magazines, non-fiction, foreign titles and there’s also an extensive Mills & Boons section!

The above video gives viewers a bit of a look at what went into constructing the beach library, as well as its opening and some feedback from its users.

Enjoy!

  1. What a good idea….

But I wonder whether the bright sparks on Randwick Council thought for more than a moment about how long the chipboard is going to last when those moist southerlies come drenching the shelves…

Not, of course, to mention the books themselves.

Ah well, I guess it looked good on paper, and the Mayor’s PR people would have lapped it up.
