Election Erection Misdirection

By 'Grey' from Bondi on March 23, 2011 in News

I’m sure we all smell the fragrance/stench of an upcoming election.

We vote, apparently, for accommodating personable ‘local members’ who will represent us, and open their doors to assist us with our problems.

For over two years I have been attempting to meet with politicians to assist my family with an iniquitous matter with the Unilateral ATO (one of the few organisations who can legally declare you guilty, and you must use your own resources to prove yourself innocent, but that is a story for another time).

Have a read of this: http://jamiemcintyre.com/atos-overly-aggressive-suspect-tactics-wealthy-individuals-paul-hogan-flight-talent-capital-australia/.

Commencing with Labor Senators (I only ever got to speak to the aides, not the pollies) after much ado, they told me that whilst Labor was in power, the correct person to speak to was my local member: Malcolm.

I never did get to speak to Malcolm, but spent nearly two years in contact with his aides – of late, Bruce Notley-Smith (upcoming Liberal candidate for Coogee). The Liberals did explain that as they were not the party in power, that I would be better off speaking to the Labor party. A-ha!

So I did. Again. After many months, Senator Forshaw’s aide told me that he couldn’t help, and that I should, instead, have the laws changed.

And, anyway, my local member was the correct person to speak to. For some reason, I guess, elected representative Senators are, um, not your representative. I also wrote letters to Maxine McHugh, and Senators Arbib, Faulkner and Sherry, amongst others.

Senator Sherry (within his portfolio) explained he couldn’t help, and explained that there was a bankruptcy person in the ATO who could assist in implementing the bankruptcy process – best of luck, he hoped he had been helpful.
Back to Malcolm’s office. Well, not a lot the local member could do, but if I could provide letters from the Labor Party showing how they were unable to help, then Malcolm might be interested, I guess because that might be a political issue that could garner press?

So, there you go folks – whoever you vote for you will get a politician. But I doubt you will get a representative.
