Bronte resident and local first aid instructor Eden ‘Finnes’ Findley shares his local favour-
ites with The Beast…

How long have you lived here?
I’ve lived in the Eastern Suburbs for nine years and Bronte for two.

Have you always lived here?
No, I am a Kiama lad originally and travelled around Australia for many years and finally settled here.

What is your favourite beach?
Bronte, of course. I still have a romance with several beaches on the South Coast but I like Bronte’s reef and Tama when it’s on.

What is your favourite eatery?
Bronte Carlo Café (the office). Mick and Oumyma provide great food and coffee made with love. For that special dinner occasion I’ll be at SumBar Wine & Tapas.

Where do you like to have a drink?
The Cloey on a Sunday night after the beach or SumBar.

Do you have a favourite sporting team?
I did. It was the Illawarra Steelers (RIP) – that was never an amalgamation and I will never accept it as such.

What music are you into at the moment?
Music is an emotion so it depends on what I am doing at the time. Some faves are The Darkness, Neon Trees, Hilltop Hoods, Van Morrison, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rolling Stones and all Aussie rock. I like most music.

Who is your favourite person?
My dad. He is my hero. And Robyn Lang (when I count my blessings I count you twice).

What do you get up to on the weekends?
If work lets me I’ll grab a wave at Tama or Bronte, train at the gym, do the coastal walk to Bondi, catch up with mates or sneak off down the coast.

What do you do for work?
I am a first aid trainer and assessor. I also design and facilitate law enforcement, investigations, officer survival and customer service training programs as required.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?
A day out at the Clovelly Hotel, lunch with a cold bevy and learning new things from students who share their personal experiences. I get a huge buzz watching a person’s confidence, abilities and skills develop over the course of a day’s or week’s training.

Do you have a favourite quote?
“The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing” and “I complained I had no shoes, until I met a child without feet”.
